Chabad’s Chai Five Mitzvah Club took on a tremendous project over the past few months. It all began when a poor orphaned young man, Menachem got engaged to Devorah Leah on December 17, 2003. As happy as they were, they unfortunately, could not afford to have the wedding of their dreams.
But that all changed when “Chai Five” came into the picture. Guided by their incredible club leaders, Chomi and Perry Grossbaum, Chai Five members were determined to enable Menachem & Devorah Leah’s wedding to be a special one! They quickly got busy collecting furniture and set out on their mission! Their plan was to hold an auction to raise money for the wedding.
At the very next club meeting, the club room was transformed into a paint shop! Members donned their smocks, rolled up their sleeves and designed their very own hand-painted furniture as well as a stunning collection of decorated mirrors.
Two weeks before the wedding Chai Five held a Grand Auction, where parents of Chai Five members participated and generously contributed to the cause. Parents admired their children’s masterpieces and were given the opportunity to bid on the furniture at the Grand Auction, led by world-renowned auctioneer Mr. Jonathan Greenstein. We are thrilled to announce that the Chai Five members raised a total of $2,271 for Menachem and Devorah’s wedding! We are so proud of them!!
The Chai Five members attended the wedding on March 3, and truly brought joy and happiness to the bride and groom. On behalf of the happy newlyweds, Chabad extends much thanks to all who participated, TGI Furniture, our special club members and much appreciation to our devoted club leaders, Chomi and Perry Grossbaum.
