Sholom and Pessy Jacobs moved into Cedarhurst over 5 years ago, and in that time have formed a lifelong bond with Chabad of the Five Towns, Rabbi and Chanie Wolowik, Meir and Haddassah Geisinsky and the whole Chabad community. They are truly humbled to be honorees at this year’s dinner. They were married almost 7 years ago and have been blessed with their 3 beautiful children, Shmuel, Chana, and Dina.
Sholom was born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland. The son of Chabad shluchim to Scotland, he is no stranger to the selfless dedication and life of outreach to the Jewish people that is exemplified by the Wolowiks, as his entire upbringing was infused with the true Chabad way of life. When he was old enough, Sholom left home to study in yeshivos in Israel for three years: at Yeshivas Lev Aryeh and Medrash Shmuel. He then moved to New York where he began his career. He now serves as president and CEO of Jacobs Real Estate Advisors in Lawrence, New York. When he is not working or spending time with his family, he is usually out performing, singing in concerts around the world or right here in New York. For over ten years, Sholom was the High Holidays chazzan in the main orthodox shul in Glasgow, and for the past 3 years has had the honor to serve as chazzan for Chabad of the Five Towns for Yomin Noraim.
Pessy grew up in Brooklyn, New York, where she attended Prospect Park Yeshiva High School. She then studied for a year in seminary in Israel at Afikei Torah, then attended Brooklyn College, where she attained a BA in Psychology with a minor in art. After marrying Sholom in 2003, Pessy took on the role of office manager and controller of Sholom’s real estate business. Pessy now dedicates her days to raising their growing family, assisting in Sholom’s business whenever needed and ensuring their home is always a welcome place for guests. They are actively involved in many organizations including HASC, Haazinu, Friendship Circle and Chabad houses around the world.
For about three years, the Jacobs have had the privilege of hosting the Monday night shiur with Rabbi Wolowik. Chana, age 3, is a proud Gan Chamesh student, while Shmuel, 5 is a proud Gan Chamesh graduate. It is truly an honor to be a part of the Chabad of the Five Towns’ family and to have been chosen as guests of honor at this year’s dinner.
