Youth News & Shmooze

Preschool
As the Gan Chamesh year comes to an end, the children and their families celebrated with a special graduation which included a spectacular Gan Chamesh video featuring our Gan Chamesh students and a festive Bikurim ceremony. Children learn best through doing; wearing their blooming wreathes and carrying baskets of fruit, they really got to exprience what Chag Habikurim is all about. The bikurim collected in our school will be distributed to the needy for Shavous.

In addition, in preparation for Shavous, Rabbi Wolowik took out a real sefer torah like we do on shavous and showed it to all the children and they each got to find the first letter of their name. It was a truly meaningful experience. Photos will be posted on our website shortly.

Life as a Mountain
The cause is the mountain itself: it simply and stubbornly gets in the way. The wind hits it with force, and must force its way around or over. As it does so, it carries little pieces of the mountain with it

The Parshah In a Nutshell
Parshat Naso

Completing the head-count of the Children of Israel taken in the Sinai Desert, a total of 8,580 Levite men between the ages of 30 and 50 are counted in a tally of those who will be doing the actual work of transporting the Tabernacle.

G‑d communicates to Moses the law of the "Sotah", the wayward wife suspected of unfaithfulness to her husband. Also given is the law of the Nazir who forswears wine, lets his or her hair grow long, and is forbidden to become contaminated through contact with a dead body. Aaron and his descendents the Kohanim are instructed on how to bless the people of Israel.

The leaders of the twelve tribes of Israel each bring their offerings for the inauguration of the altar. Although their gifts are identical, each is brought on a different day and is individually described by the Torah.

Daily Thought
Nothingness

Nothingness is the medium through which all energy moves, from above to below and from below to above.

Below, in Man, a sense of nothingness that transcends ego. Above, a Nothingness that transcends all boundaries and planes.

The nothingness below fuses with the Nothingness above, locking heaven and earth in eternal embrace. That is why G‑d is found amongst the truly humble.
