Shalach Monos Campaign

Chabad of the Five Towns is pleased to announce that we will once again be offering the opportunity to participate in our annual Mishloach Manot Project. For a donation of $54.00 you will receive a magnificent package filled with tempting treats and your name will be included on a list along with all other participating families. By joining this project, you will not need to send individual Shalach Manot to the families who participate*.

We are asking everyone to participate, as it will benefit us all by alleviating any “pre-Purim jitters”. You can purchase your Mishloach Manot Package by sending a check, payable to Chabad of the Five Towns, by February 29, 2008.

* This does not fulfill the mitzvah of Mishloach Manot. You will need to send Misloach Manot to an additional family on Purim

Daily Quote
A chassid creates an environment. If he does not, he had better check his own baggage carefully, to see whether his own affairs are in order. The very fact that he fails to create an environment should make him as broken as a splinter. He must demand of himself: What am I doing in this world?
— Rabbi Sholom DovBer of Lubavitch (1860-1920)

Blueprint

Torah is the blueprint by which the world was designed. Everything that exists can be found in the Torah.

Even more: In any one concept of Torah you can find the entire world.

From the wisdom of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Schneerson; words and condensation by Tzvi Freeman. To order Tzvi's book, "Bringing Heaven Down to Earth, click here.

the parshah in a nutshell
Parshat Pekudei

Moses makes an accounting of the gold, silver and copper donated by the people for the making of the Mishkan. Betzalel, Ahaliav and their assistants make the Eight Priestly Garments — the Apron, Breastplate, Cloak, Crown, Hat, Tunic, Sash and Breeches — according to the specifications communicated to Moses in the Parshah of Tetzaveh.

The Mishkan is completed and all its components are brought to Moses, who erects it and anoints it with the holy Anointing Oil, and initiates Aaron and his four sons into the priesthood. A cloud appears over the Mishkan, signifying the Divine Presence that has come to dwell within it.

This week's Torah reading also includes Parshat Shekalim (Exodus 30:11-16), which speaks of the half-shekel each Jew contributed to the Sanctuary.
